This New Prop Drive Flange  sets the timing in accordance with the CDI (30BTDC) and corrects the timing between cylinders #2 &3.
You can replace the prop drive and the engine will be running like a Swiss clock.
We designed this in such a manner to minimize the set of skills necessary, no timing tools and other expenses involved. It is an easy DIY.

You can replace the prop drive and the engine will be running like a Swiss clock.
We designed this in such a manner to minimize the set of skills necessary, no timing tools and other expenses involved. It is an easy DIY.

All you have to do is to replace yours is to follow the steps below.

  • Take the set screw out ,
  • Use a gear puller,
  • Keep original cone,
  • Put the CH Prop Drive Flange  ON.
  • Align and make sure the set screw is matching the slot on the crankshaft, Do not tight the set screw fully at this point.
  • Tight the Prop Drive Flange by using a PLASTIC propeller,
  • Tight the set screw
  • DO NOT MOVE THE SENSOR from the factory, no timing tools are necessary.

    I installed one of these on my 90 radial.
    It is the bomb, made it run smoother, idle slower, and run stronger throughout all rpm range. The acceleration from low to high now has no hesitation at all.
    This is the best upgrade a person should do to this engine.

    As many have found Saito makes a great engine yet missed the mark on getting the timing to an optimum setting with the timing ring they built the engine with.
    The replacement hub from CH is a quality made part and made to get the timing right for all cylinders.
    The original hub removal requires a little grunt yet with the right puller and an impact gun comes off after a few blips of the trigger. We used a puller that surrounds the groove in the hub (and you can tighten to squeeze the hub). Trying a puller that would grab behind the hub will not work as easy as the gap is very small. Installation of the new hub is very straight forward as the directions describe.

    Total time to install with two people was about 15 minutes.
